Other Software and Tools There are many software tools at a trader's disposal, beyond MetaTrader 4. This is the place to discuss them.

Default Platforms?

Hi,

I know that most people here use MT4, but the truth is I haven't found an MT4 Broker I like. Currently I am with FXCM, but there platform is terrible(I know they will have MT4 soon).

But I am curios what charting software do you use? and has anyone tried eSignal from Forex.com? is it better or worse than MT4?

and what platform do you consider best? and why?

Thnxs,
Negi.

for charting previously I use netdania but there is no Fibonacci tools in their platform, so I use only MT4.

I've checked them out (they have fibs now, must be something new ). The thing that scares me about using someone else's data to chart and another's to trade. I've tried that with a demo on fxsol(they have a great charting package) but their data can differ by as much as 10-15pip from the feed I get on FXCM.

I still haven't found my trading style fully, I seem to lean to tick-bar charts. I like seeing purely price action unencumbered by time...Do you know of any software like that?

Its really best if you use your brokers charting system. Even then theres no guarantee that their charts are based on the feed for executable quotes, it helps in MT4 that you can see prices and quotes at the same time, typically the charts are generated using the bid price.

If you want charts based solely on price action you may want something like point and figure charts, you can generate that through Aspen Graphics ... pretty expensive though I used to get that with my bloomberg with my previous firm.

Thumbs up Re: Platforms?

Hi everybody

I'm new to the live trading room. I have tried different brokers and platforms, at the moment I'm using ACM market which is pretty good. I also use Ninja trader which is a very good charting software.
I have tried different MT4 brokers over some time, if you pull up two charts from different brokers you will get different price action.
I wonder if all Instructors are using Interbank FX? anybody knows?
Makes it easier to follow using the same platform as the instructors.
I have seen a lot of bad review of them, so I'm not sure if I would use them for live trading yet. I might be wrong.
Are the instructors actually trading live with Interbank FX?
I was using MIG as a demo , but the chart/price action was very different from Interbank FX.
Good trading everybody, this is a fantastic site.

Hi everyone,

I am new and now in the process of looking for a good broker to trade. I am only now doing all the demo accounts. Latest is GTLonline I am trying but like you all mentioned, the price actions are different. I also realised I cannot do Johan probability trade because for the EUR USD, minimum required is 20 pips to be able to set your stoploss or Take profit ! Johan charts show only 4 pips. Can you imagine if broker can restrict your scalpings by setting these requirements ? It gets so scary........

Amyway, a great learning site and happy tradings.
