Default MT4 Trick: Multiple Brokers, Same Terminal

Ever needed to use trading accounts from different brokers, but keep all of your chart studies, indicators, and settings in the same terminal?

Here's an easy trick you can use to trade with multiple brokers, using the same MT4 terminal:
  1. Install each broker's MetaTrader 4 terminal into different folders.
  2. Inside each installation folder, find the "config" sub-folder.
  3. Inside the "config" folder, find files ending with an ".srv" extension.
  4. Copy each of these ".srv" files into the "config" folder of a single MT4 installation - which ever one you will be using as your "main" install.
  5. Uninstall all of the unneeded MT4 terminals, leaving just your "main" install.
  6. Now when you are opening demo accounts, or connecting to an existing account, you will be able to access each one of the different brokers you've "copied" into your favorite terminal.
Hope this helps somebody!

Hi Eugene,

I tried to follow your post on adding multiple brokers to the same terminal, but was not successful in finding the conf. folder srv. files. Could you provide a more detailed procedure for accomplishing this task.

Thank you
HJB

Hi HJB!

Before you can find the conf folder, it helps to know where MT4 is installed. Here's the quickest way to do that:
  1. Find the shortcut icon that you click on to start MT4.
  2. Instead of double-clicking on it, click once with your RIGHT mouse button.
  3. A menu will appear - choose Properties.
  4. You will see a Shortcut Properties dialog. Click on the "Find Target" button (thats what its called in XP - might be different for Vista).
  5. The folder in which MT4 is installed will open up, and you should be able to now see the "config" folder inside it.
Hope this helps you make use of the original instructions!
